Something of a furore appears to have developed over the merchandising of "Michael Jackson belts" ($1500 each), signed by various members of his family.
TMZ quote Jackson's lawyer Howard Weitzman, claimed not to have heard of the belts and that the executors never authorised the sale.
"The Trustees of the Estate of Michael Jackson did not authorise the making or the sale of the Michael Jackson Tribute Belts."
Adding
"We would never condone the use of Michael's children's signatures to promote the sale of merchandise."
The lesson to be learned here is that it is always wise to be 100% certain that you have the right to sell something, before you go ahead and sell it.
